FILMMAKERS: Laura Cain is a civil rights attorney with Maryland Disability Law Center in Baltimore. Laura has worked to end human and legal rights violations in psychiatric facilities and to create a safe and sane mental health system. Laura is currently writing, directing and producing Healing Neen, a documentary about the amazing life and recovery of Tonier Cain, a subject in Behind Closed Doors. Diana Gross is an independent filmmaker and photographer working in Baltimore and New York City. She is the owner of Gallery144 Productions. Stephanie Petagno graduated from the Maryland Institute, College of Art in 2002, and has continued to work as a filmmaker, costume designer, and makeup artist. She has made both narrative and documentary films, as well as designed other elements for stage productions, films and other media. She is proud to be the Director of Photography for Behind Closed Doors, and part of the team that created the vision to accompany the truths revealed in the film. Her goal remains to produce emphatic work that stays with its audience beyond their initial experience. She has recently returned to the state she was born in, New Jersey, to live the life of an artist working in the entertainment industry in that little city across the Hudson River. Thom Stromer. After graduating from the
Art Institute of FortLauderdale in 1992 Thom Stromer began his career
with a job in the video production department at The National Aquarium
in Baltimore. He became their Senior Editor in 1995 working on a
wide range of documentary productions. While
there, he honed his eye for the edit and also gained valuable experience
as a cameraman and director. In 2005, he became a freelance editor.
He has worked with a variety of clients ranging from educational,
broadcast, to independent filmmakers. "Behind Closed Doors" was a
unique opportunity to utilize creative muscles while affecting positive
